January 20th “NEW YEAR IN VIENNA” – PENNY WEEDON

Having entertained us on several previous occasions Penny returns with a special programme to recreate some of the music broadcast on New Year’s Day from the magnificent Musikverein concert hall in Vienna (where this year tickets cost up to £865.00!)

It has long been a tradition at the New Year for the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra to present a program consisting of the lively, and at the same time nostalgic, music from the vast repertoire of the Johann Strauss family and its contemporaries. These concerts not only delight the audiences in the Musikverein in Vienna, but also enjoy great international popularity through the worldwide television broadcasts which now reach millions of people in over 50 countries. 

February 17th JON SMITH

Jon is truly an International performer, having entertained thousands of people all over the world, from Shanklin to Toronto, Scarborough to Barbados, U.S.A., Canada, Europe, aboard cruise ships in the Caribbean. He has also worked along with international stars in top cabaret venues and played extensively in the U.K. delighting audiences in Summer Shows on the East Coast & the Isle of Wight.

March 17th NICHOLAS MARTIN

Nicholas is undoubtedly one of the most accomplished and most popular artistes on the concert scene. His achievements in the organ world illustrate his incredible talent:- He became resident organist at The Blackpool Tower Ballroom at the age of 17, He was resident organist at Turner’s Musical Merry-go-Round for 21 years before becoming Musical Director at Wicksteed Park in Northampton. Nicholas has made numerous recordings, several television appearances and 22 visits to The Kirk of Dunedin in Florida, USA. He is of course in great demand as a concert artiste and last year performed over 100 concerts.

April 21st  MICHAEL McANENY

Michael made his first visit to our society two years ago and his performance was so well enjoyed by our members many requested his return. Michael is rapidly establishing himself as one of the most popular players on the concert and festival scene.

May 19th JEAN MARTYN

The first Lady of our 2010 concert season and one who is regarded as the First Lady of the organ world! Jean has long been a favourite of audiences throughout the country at both societies and festivals alike. Her charm, bubbly personality and sparkling humour endear her to audiences wherever she goes and not just in the UK! - Jean has appeared in the USA, Switzerland and throughout Europe. She has entertained us many times before and never fails to delight our audiences

June 16th CHRIS POWELL

Chris Powell has firmly established himself as one of the UK’s premier ‘entertainment organists’ as well as a truly international ambassador in the field of electronic and theatre organ music. By the time he was 18, he had successfully auditioned to join the team of organists playing for dancing at the Tower Ballroom Blackpool. He subsequently went on to become one of the most popular performers in the UK and intersperses his regular annual diary of engagements in Britain with frequent overseas concert tours with have included Holland, Australia and the US as well as NZ in recent years. Future visits to the Netherlands, New Zealand and Australia are already in the diary!

 

July 21st ELIZABETH HARRISON 

Elizabeth greets everyone with a smile and is a bubbly, friendly Lancashire lady who has lived on a working dairy farm in Chorley for more than 28 years. For many years she has travelled all over the UK playing for organ and keyboard clubs and has built up a first class reputation for playing high quality 'live' performances without music. Elizabeth’s very varied programme includes military marches, big band, orchestral arrangements, novelty tunes and much more. Never a dull moment throughout her performances!

 

August 18th TIM BUTTERWORTH

 Tim began playing at the age of 4 Tim grew up in Gloucestershire performing his first organ society concert aged 14 and has continued since then to give regular concert performances on both Theatre and Electronic instruments. His performances have taken him to all parts of the UK and to Europe. Until recently, Tim balanced a professional 'day job' with his musical work, however, in May 2006, Tim, together with his wife Sam, relocated to Lytham-St-Annes in Lanacashire, and Tim has now assumed music as his full time professional career. This will be Tim’s first visit to NEDOS.

September 15th CHIHO SUNAMOTO

Chiho is one of the most talented artistes on the concert circuit. She began playing at the age of 3 and eventually came to this country in 1985 as one of Yamaha’s top demonstrators. Chiho’s incredible dexterity at the keyboard coupled with her delightful vocals have made her one of the world’s most highly acclaimed concert artistes. Having performed in 26 countries around the world, Chiho can truly be described as an international star.

 

October 20th RYAN EDWARDS

Concert organist, Ryan Edwards, was born in Derbyshire. Having developed a passion for organs at an early age, through the influence of his grandfather, Ryan embarked on his first electronic organ lessons at the tender age of eight. His enthusiasm later led him to seek tuition from top organist Tim Flint, who was able to foster Ryan’s natural talent ultimately putting him at the forefront of the concert circuit. 

 

November 17th DONALD MACKENZIE

Donald was born in Ayrshire (Scotland) and studied piano and classical organ with renowned organist Gordon Frier. Donald received his first engagement in 1988 when he was appointed Resident Organist at the Glasgow Garden Festival. Since October 2003 Donald has been the Resident Organist at the Odeon Leicester Square, London playing for concerts, gala evening and World Premieres. Several of which have been in the presence of Her Majesty, The Queen.

 

December 15th TIM FLINT

Tim has entertained us at NEDOS regularly for over 20 years so almost all of our members know exactly what to expect. Despite that they come back to see Tim at every opportunity! It’s certain to be a night of festive fun and laughter when the flamboyant Mr Flint brings his own brand of showmanship to provide the musical entertainment for our Christmas Special.

 

As usual, a buffet will be served during the interval with crackers and streamers to add to the party atmosphere. Admission is restricted to NEDOS MEMBERS ONLY. There will undoubtedly be the usual huge demand for tickets which will be available to our members well in advance so don’t be disappointed -  get yours early!
